Welcome to the Backyard Diary

Having a backyard is, honestly, one of the best things in a person’s life. It’s your corner of paradise, a place where you can rest or work, think or create. It’s a nest for birds and a haven for bees and other critters.

I grew up in a household where the backyard was a sacred space. My father taught me many things, but the most important was the art of gardening—growing plants and beautifying the space around you. And that is the essence of a garden.

This chapter of my website is a sort of diary that I will fill with photos of the plants I grow, the thoughts my small backyard inspires me, and the precious bliss that comes with each season’s smells, colors, and sounds. Naturally, it will include art stuff too, such as working-in-progress photos, sneak peeks at projects, drawings inspired by the life in my backyard, and much more!

Let me conclude this quick, introductory post by saying this—Virginia is truly a beautiful State! Like every place in the world, it has its own unique animal and plant species, lies along the path of stunning migratory birds, and boasts lush vegetation that never ceases to amaze me.

They say green is the color the human eye perceives best, so we are able to take in its infinite tints and shades in ways no other color can. If Virginia were to be defined by a single hue, well, it would undoubtedly be Green!
